Propaganda poster from WW2 Home Front Series, after clothes were rationed in 1941.Wouldn't the world be a very different place if they'd never lifted rationing? Just a thought.

funnily enough they're doing WWII in school this term. They made wall hangers out of old trousers. Maybe not classic design , but definitely in the make do and mend spirit. And, who darns socks and tights anymore? It's a dying skill I tell you, a dying skill....
Hi! I have been experimenting with cloth and stitch forever, starting with dolls clothes, then via patterncutting in London for 15 years and I have recently discovered the joys of screenprinting. The result of combining the three is many lost hours and iris and lily handmade!

I love this ad. Although if everyone else mended their own clothes it would put me out of business.
What a fantastic poster, every home should have one!
Love this. We have a lot of 'make do and mend-ers' coming to workshops at the moment!
what a cute poster! yes, i remember always repairing our socks growing up - nowdays, we just throw them out and buy new ones...so much waste!
