Eye Spy...My Secret (Food) Shame

image from google
This weeks Eye Spy theme is from Jade at Just Needs Salt.

Now this one had me thinking....I've already 'fessed up to hiding the Jaffa cakes from the kids and that was without even the tiniest hint of shame! All being fair in love, war and chocolate in my book. So food shame? Mmm, difficult that one...
And then I remember...on Tuesday tea time...I can't fry an egg! Oh yeah, you think I'm joking. Only I'm not. I seem to have a defective egg cooking gene. Don't confuse this with not being able to cook, I can - I can't be bothered, but I can (...ish)- I just don't seem to be able to cook eggs! I can boil an egg obviously, as long as your not too bothered if it's hard or soft boiled. Pays not too be too fussy in this house!
More Eye Spy fun at Bug and Pop!

Ooooh, i'm the perfect egg fryer. If I do say so myself. Do you want to know my secret? A pot lid. When I'm frying I put the lid over the egg, so it's sitting on the pan, and that traps the steam in so the bottom of the egg goes nice and crispy fried, but the top is steamed so that the white is nice and firm and the yoke is nice and runny once you cut into the egg....mmmmm eggy goodness....

(yeah ok, I'm possibly a bit anal about my fried eggs...not going to dwell on that one too much methinks....)

Eggs are so unassuming. I agree, they're so much harder to cook than they look!

It's the egg's fault. Simple as that. I can cook just about anything, sometimes the egg just doesn't cut it, it all depends on the quality of the egg. You are not alone.
Can't wait to see the bathroom! xx

Oh my god! I can't fry an egg either! I do wicked scrambled eggs and an awesome poached egg but fry? How do people get a fried egg to stay in one piece for goodness sake?
