Hardly any Christmas presents made, let alone bought and wrapped. House looks like a herd of elephants have passed through. Only 3/4 hour till school pickup. Now would be a good time to decide I NEED a handbag for a big night out tonight! So quick, quick cut! Speedy sew, sew, sew! And what do you know? a handbag is born (with 2 minutes to spare!) (Just don't look inside... no fusing....no lining... overlocked in grey... stitched in teal...!)
Always available to sit right in the middle of whatever I'm working on, especially if it's white and he has wet feet. He's not to clever on the machine though, tries to eat the bobbins as they wind!
I was too slow with the camera to get a snap of him asleep, while hanging off the edge of the ironing board so this one will have to suffice. Please excuse the poor quality, the light has not been kind this week ( that and I need more practise!)
This is showing you a sneaky peak of my studio, yes I know it looks like a kitchen, and even though i say STU-DI-O alot every one insists on referring to it as a kitchen, but it's my studio, honest!
Like the green cupboards in the background? I don't, they were here when we moved in and the theory was "oh yeah, we'll be replacing those!", 6 and a half years later and they're still here, but at least the orange and green checkerboard effect tiles are gone, as are the stencilled orange trees in a big pot, three of them would you believe at a jaunty angle on the wall( artex wall by the way! ) like the 80's version of flying ducks (only far less attractive!) One day I'm going to have a bonfire of those kitchen cupboards, I mean STUDIO cupboards. You're all invited. We'll make a day of it. Bring your own matches...
Note to self: At least pretend you have domestic skills and tidy up BEFORE taking photos!!
Hi! I have been experimenting with cloth and stitch forever, starting with dolls clothes, then via patterncutting in London for 15 years and I have recently discovered the joys of screenprinting. The result of combining the three is many lost hours and iris and lily handmade!
